Horror-based micro-games

SpookWare is a horror game created by Papercookies, the brain behind the creepy cult hit, No Players Online. This game takes the Nintendo classic WarioWare formula and adds a delightfully dark twist. It features a selection of ten macabre micro-games that lasts for ten seconds each. These games range from collecting Slenderman pages to abducting cows. You may even be tasked to saw your way through human legs. As in the Warioware game, you need to work fast to win each game.

Easy to understand, hard to master

Just like WarioWare, the execution in Spookware is very simple. Using the directional buttons in your keyboard, you only need to complete the task presented before your time ends—or in this case, before the dynamite explodes. You either need to press the keys in a certain order and/or press them at a certain speed.

The challenges in the game are unique and offer a little nod to other horror games and classic horror tropes. Among the highlights of the game include starting a car engine before the killer arrives, spelling words on an Ouija board, closing the shutter before a zombie could crawl beneath it, and finding Nosferatu by torchlight. Don’t worry though,  all these games are done in a deliberately goofy manner, so it will not give you nightmares.

If you are lucky enough to beat 20 rounds, you will be able to unlock the final level, which will be more challenging. However, that is easier than done. While the game has very simple mechanics, completing the round will not be that easy. You will need quick reflexes and nerves of steel just to beat one round.

Horrifyingly fun

If you are into arcade games with dark twists, then SpookWare is a recommended game for you. This game brings back a well-loved game and put a spooky flavor to it. It could use a few more micro-games in it, though, as 20 rounds of challenges are very short, especially if you are having fun. Also, the timer could be a little slower, since sometimes it feels a little too fast.
